Before The Rocky Horror Show even opened in London, Australian producer Harry M. Miller was already listening to Richard O'Brien's demo tape for the show. Harry M. Miller had previously produced two extremely successful shows in Australia, Hair (1969-71) and Jesus Christ Superstar (1972-74), both of which were directed by Jim Sharman and designed by Brian Thomson. So he already had a proven track record in working with at least part of the Rocky Horror Show creative team. The show opened in Sydney on April 19th, 1974 at the New Arts Cinema in Glebe (which became the Valhalla Cinema, until it closed in August 2005). It ran for three and a half years, transferring to Melbourne in October 1975 and then to Adelaide in August 1977 before finally closing. To this day regular productions of The Rocky Horror Show have continued to be popular throughout both Australia and New Zealand. The latest example: http://www.rockyhorror.com.au.
